darmstadtium

The darmstadium convention center is named in honor of the chemical element with atomic number 110 darmstadtium discovered in Darmstadt in 1994. The center offers a variety of facilities to host large conferences such as Quark Matter 2014. With 18,000 m² of usable area with approximately 1,800 m² of foyer area, it has a congress hall of 1,300 m² with about 1,700 seats which can be divided into two or three individual halls. Additional 21 configurable conference rooms fit up to 1,300 people. The darmstadtium wireless system is connected with a 10 Gbit/s line via TU Darmstadt directly to the DFN network and allows for up to 4000 simultaneous connections (with eduroam support) with about 300 wireless access devices distributed inside the building.
